Interesting idea badly executed
It took me nearly 20 years to get round to watching this movie and quite frankly I wish I hadn't bothered. It is yet another example of an interesting idea badly executed by being poorly written and poorly acted by some.
I guess you can excuse this to a degree by a low budget but in truth I have seen some brilliant movies made on a shoestring so that argument doesn't really hold up.
The writing was cheesy and clichéd to a fault and sounded like the work of an amatuer or at best a beginner to the genre.
Some of the acting was cringeworthy and poor. Maurice Dean Wint needed to learn that bulging eyes as an expression of horror belongs in school plays and quite frankly Nicky Guadagni's performance was an embarrassment. I actually wanted to knock her out after about 2 minutes she was that irritating and annoying and delivering her, admittedly, poorly written lines as badly as they deserved. At one point she had an expression that made Regan in the Exorcist look like an angel and scared the pants off me although that was not the intention I'm sure.
Andrew Miller's constant bleating was annoying beyond belief and this movie contains what has to be one of the worst songs I have ever had the misfortune to hear on a soundtrack.
I haven't checked them out but I hope all those involved went on to better things and had decent careers using this as a learning curve.
As I said a very worthy idea that could have been so very much better.
