Worst acting EVER!
Cool concept, setting, idea, but the acting made it painful to watch.
shareI totally agree. I watched it the first time when it just came out and loved it, but at the time I was 17 years old.
Watched it again recently and couldn't continue after 30 minutes.
Truly horrible acting, the mentally disturbed boy was by far the best actor.
I agree. The Worth actor is the only one who is not totally incompetent. Maybe the Kazan actor is competent, but I can't tell since all he does is stand around and make noises like an idiot even though the role calls for him to do that.
But all the other actors were absurdly bad.
I agree. Just watched this for the first time. I had been looking forward to it, as it had been recommended to me based on some other movies I loved.
The acting was so terrible that it totally pulled me out of the movie. Time and time again. I really think it was the worst acting I'd ever seen. The terrible dialogue didn't help, either. I found myself laughing through most of the movie, because the acting was so awful that it was funny.
The worst thing is....I just looked at a bunch of reviews here's on IMDb, and not only did they highly praise this movie, they also described the acting as being fantastic. Which, to me, is pretty strong proof that these reviews were written by friends and family of the cast and crew. Because, even if you liked the concept of this movie, NOBODY could ever describe the acting as anything short of abysmal.
Acting classes should use this film as a teaching tool for everything not to do. I dare anyone to defend this acting.
