Whoopi shuts down Sunny once again

So much fun to see 'Mommy' shut down her teen age daughter once again.

On yesterday's show, Sunny tried sticking up for Ben Carson, as he's a 'good man' who mentored her husband at John Hopkins Hospital, and has done so much for the community (so she says)...so let's forgive him for thinking slaves 'emigrated' to America on their own free will, for their chance at the American dream.

Whoopi wouldn't go for it (Thank God) and shot her down. "I have black friends who are nice good people, too!" she responded - noting they are smart enough to know their roots in slavery were not about coming to America the American Dream.

This caused Sunny to pout her lips and suck in her cheeks. She wouldn't dare stand up to Whoopi as she has Jed, Sarah and Joy frequently in the past.

I do have one question for Sunny - if it were a White Republican man making those same statements, would she ask for forgiveness?

I saw that. I completely understand where Sunny was coming from. When it comes to medicine, Carson is brilliant. I think it's really hard sometimes to accept that someone you look up to has done or said something really ridiculous. It's natural to want to "forgive" them. Sunny simply needs to remember Carson truly does not belong in politics. He's probably a nice person personally, but he is out of his league here.

Yes, thank goodness Whoopi is the voice of reason.

We don't appreciate guest hosts who can't read the teleprompter. We don't appreciate guests who won't listen to their hosts or those who are oblivious to the group dynamic.

We expect competent people. We expect them to tell a story or relate to current events on a personal level somehow.

Ben Carson has a story to tell & he should be able to relate to certain struggles in a universal way - but he can't! Either his religion or his political slant gets in the way to negate any and all interest I have with his personal story.

He's incompetent. As are a lot of the tRumpsters.

Very well put, Fishy. I, too, understand Suny's reasoning to forgive him - but in this case, she needed to call it what it is. She does him no favors by patting him on the back and saying 'But you're a really nice guy'.

What he said, in a national position, was insulting to all African Americans. We expect / deserve much better. He's way out of his league.
