Same Litigants on People's Court and Hot Bench
Today on Hot Bench, I saw the same couple I watched on People's Court a few days earlier! Exact same story. Girl sues ex-boyfriend. She just got a huge BP oil spill settlement and moved in with him. She claims he stole money from her paypal account. He spent $2400 at a strip club. He counter-sued that she sold his hand-painted cowboy boots on ebay. She won both times.
Her name is Kathrine Mouyos. His name is Michael Meredith.
I googled her name. Here is her mug shot:

What's next for the two scammers - Judge Mathis! LOL

reply

Hmm, interesting.

Apparently TV jurisprudence doesn't respect the traditional legal concepts of "res adjudicata" and "double jeopardy".

reply

The correct term is "res judicata". My civil procedure professor would be happy that I took the time to correct this.

reply

Ouch. I know that, or at least knew it when I was working and used it often enough. But thanks for the correction.

Geez, maybe retiring early does cause regression! Somehow I'll just have to learn to live with it. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for clearing that up!! I knew I'd seen these guys before but knew there was something different...but remembered the cowboy boots being sold.

I'm surprised , like the above poster , about the whole double jeopardy thing

but as an aside, she weighs 120 and is 5'9"...that says a whole lot about her!
