Carla's parents are talking in their boat and the father comments that none of their daughters are Democrats. Recall that one daughter is gay, which makes her a Republican lesbian?!?!?!?!?! Now you KNOW this is a work of fiction.
Are lesbians even ALLOWED to be Republicans? Someone loses their "Ellen" toaster if that happens.
Well I am a gay republican. I was raised in Louisiana in a republican household and have always been a lesbian. In Denver all my friends think I'm nuts. Of course I do a have a bit of good sense and have my "Republicans for Obama" sticker on my car.
I do have many republican (& some democratic) values.
A few years ago there was documentary made called Elephant in the Room which focused on Gay Republicans. The people in the documentary were conservative on economic issues, guns and social issues such as abortion.
Why do some people assume someone who's "not a Democrat" MUST be a Republican and someone who's "not a Republican" MUST be a Democrat? They're just political parties. People don't HAVE to be either one. It seems to me some people are just too quick to over associate political party affiliation with the difference between liberal views and conservative views. Yes, traditionally, Republicans tend be more socially conservative and Democrats more socially liberal, but it's not ALWAYS like that. Whether a person's views are more to the side of liberal or conservative, many people just see things as right and wrong, not Republican and Democrat.
I agree, while I probably hold more Democratic views overall, I refuse to support this bipartisan government and therefore I am registered independent. I vote for the candidate not for the party.
