It seems to me that Juliette Lewis stole her act from Leo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape-they WERE in it together-any thoughts??

I don't think so. I think both of them do a great job playing people with two different diseases.

Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for an OSCAR for WIEGGrape. He would have won if he had been better known. Oscar voters would have been amazed at his skill.

And I do not even like LD. But his portrayal was great.

um no lol. leo was 14 at the time and they seemed to play completely different mentally challenged people.

Juliette Lewis, gave a great performance not so much because she played a person with mental retardation with great skill. (Though that was a factor) She suceeded in this because she infused the character with purity, innocence and she was adorable.

You can't steal those qualities. That comes from the heart.

No one can touch Leo in Gilbert Grape. Juliette did an okay job here, but she can't hold a candle to Arnie. One of the best acting jobs I've ever seen...
