Seen It In Theaters?

Did anyone who was alive when this movie came out in the Summer of 1998 see this in the theaters? What was the experience like for those who saw it and what were the crowds like?

This movie came out shortly after I turned 11 years old in 1998, and I remember wanting to go see this right away when I saw it was out as soon as I saw the previews and the toys coming out from it. My Mom was interested in it too, but for whatever reason we never went to see it. I still regret we didn't go, I'm sure it must've been a very fun experience.

I was six when I saw it in theaters. I immediately went out to K- mart and bought an Archer toy because I thought it was the coolest movie ever. I don't really remember the crowds, it was a very long time ago and I was pretty wrapped up in the movie itself.

I never really saw it as a kid. Either it was my sister (who was only 3 at the time), they didn't think it was appropriate for me at 6, or we just didn't have the money (we didn't have a whole lot of money back then and I don't remember going to movies almost ever). Normally when I saw a new movie, they bought it on VHS or recorded it off TV.

I was 7 years old and my memory of the audience is vague, but I think I remember them chuckling at the "Greetings, AlanNowShutUp" line.

Regardless, at that age, it became my favorite movie ever.

I was 9 when it came out and I saw it in theaters in New Hampshire. The place was a dine in theater where you could order food, like burgers and fries, and waiters would take your order before the movie starts and bring it to you at a table, where your seats were like first class airplane seats. It was a fun experience. As far as crowd size, it's kind of hard to remember since it wasn't a conventional set up for a theater, but I do remember a few other families being there as well and everyone seemed to respond well to the movie.

I saw it in the theater but I can't really recall what the crowd reaction was like. I just re-watched it recently and still find the movie entertaining. The toys all have some pretty great lines.
