True or not, I couldn't conjure up a laugh with this turkey
A new low for the "mockumentary" genre in my opinion. These were not funny characters at all. They were just caricatures complete with all the cliche's we know about Nixon and Elvis.

shareOh, lighten up. Don't be such a grouch.
If they seemed to be caricatures it's because that's what they had become.
"What's truth got to do with it?"
"What's truth got to do with anything?"
It goes to show the wide range of tastes in comedy. We laughed our butts off during the entire thing when it first aired on HBO.
shareI thought the movie was hysterical too. I particularly loved the scene where Elvis is reading the letter he wrote to Nixon, and he starts talking about his "research into the drug culture of America". I remember laughing so hard I thought I was gonna pee myself, thinking that sounded like a prescription pill addict justifying the wide array of uppers, downers and inbetweeners he ingests..."Oh, I'm not addicted, I'm just doing my own personal research for when the President makes me a G-man".
You're really not selling this well with your malice.
