Was it a Good Decision?

It's almost 4 A.M. so lucky for everyone here, this thread will be short.

I am planning on starting a few threads on this movie that I keep putting off.

In no way does the question I am going to ask reflect on my feelings on the movie.

This movie was a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 9th to win a world series.

That being said. Grace's Grandpa seemed to have spent a lot of money on those tickets to Rome. I know Grace said something to the effect "After I tell him (Bob), I'm going to want to go away" (I've watched this movie a minimum of 150 times, know every line, and I will tell you why another time if all is well).

But I digress. Ok, she wants to go away but really doesn't have to. Her whole life she has wanted to go to Italy and winds up staying a lousy two days.

Yes I understand why that was written but the movie was darn near perfect. I find this kind of a bad call on one of the two writers of the movie.

Of course they can go another time but he and Elizabeth (his first wife) seemed to take forever just to plan the overdue trip to Italy so who's going to say if they will end up going back.

Listen. When you watch movies like I do (and this one is for a special reason) I tend to pick up on everything.

Could you possibly imagine my follow up threads when I said this one is going to be short  !

This film is one of my favorites although its been a long time since i've re watched it. I think she thought that maybe Bob would not be able to to be with her and thought it would be easier (for him) if she was gone and out of his life. I guess when he went out there and found her they just wanted to get back and get married with their family there for them.

Exactly. But the main point I was trying to make I never included with my initial post.

Grace waited most of her life to go to Italy and it cost her Grandfather some big bucks. If she wanted to go away, did she have to go to Italy? She could have accomplished the same thing by going to a friend in California or for that matter, anywhere in the U.S.

And the pint you made I guess when he went out there and found her they just wanted to get back and get married with their family there for them.

we don't know for sure.

Bonnie Hunt did a good job of completely fooling us as I (and I would think most people who have watched the movie) thought the ending, when they heard there was a wedding taking place, automatically assumed it was Bob and Grace.

I understood that both Bob and Grace were obviously much in love, but if there was no mention of them getting married at the end of the movie, I don't think either of them intended to rush into a life changing event.

What do you think?

You're right. You know I forgot that that wedding was not Bob and Grace. Bonnie Hunt did a good job of fooling me too. I guess what you said above is the way that they were both thinking. Not to rush into things until he was really sure that he could live with the fact that Grace had his wife's heart. In my mind and heart they do get married and live happily ever after:)

Oh wow. Now it hit me. I thought your user ID was familiar.

Your were on that great board on "The X-Files." I know the board is probably still up, but very few member ID's I remember and yours was one of them because I remember the nice posters.

And you probably watched or bought this movie for the same reason I did.

I've been a fan since way back:) Yes, i most definitely went to see the film because of David and yes, i bought the movie as soon as it came out.
