One thing in this movie I never got was when they were talking to the other cops asking for some advice they say they will kick in for some junk food. Is this a cop slang? Something I'm not picking up on, or are they simply offering them junk food haha.

I think they are simply offering junk food lol. Its a running theme in buddy cop movies, they are forever eating chips, pizza, chinese, doughnuts etc.

You won't see Danny Glover eating that crap, that guy is always in exquisite shape.

Everybody kick in for some junk food and make a night of it. From memory Riggs said it to the other cops in a light-hearted manner as a bit of a joke.
