I'm assuming Murtaugh waited until nobody was around and he just took them home with him. It was the middle of the night. And isn't it the afternoon of that same day when Riggs finds out when he goes over to Murtaugh's house with Lorna?
Pretty sure it was mid-to-late evening when they discovered the boat (I mean why would three men of Riggs', Murtaugh's, and 'Getz's ages be out on the water fishing past midnight, right?), and Murtaugh, if I remember correctly, had them in his house for a whole day before anyone noticed (I remember the scene where he gives Hong his watch during an evening, and if I remember correctly, it was a different evening). So Riggs and Lorna wouldn't have found out until... a day and a half, at least?
Anyway, why wouldn't anybody be around the scene? The beach was crawling with investigators who were scrutinizing a boat that obviously had illegals, but no illegals? Then again, I can't remember if Hong and his family members were the only illegals onboard or not, so if not, it's a bit more believable that they would go unnoticed. Still, I always found it odd.
I'll have to watch it again, which I have no problem doing since I like all four movies almost equally (the first two are my favourites, though).

I think the part when he gives Hong the watch was later on in the movie. I don't think it was the same day. I don't think we meet Hong until Riggs and Lorna see the family in the kitchen and Riggs finds out what's going on. I'm also pretty sure Riggs gets home the very morning after the whole thing happened with Murtaugh's boat and the slave ship. Watch it again. You'll see. I just watched it this afternoon.
Oh, okay. I'll watch it as soon as I get home, then. Thanks for clearing it up for me. It's been too long since I last saw it and the thought came to me the other day.
Maybe I should have watched it again before asking. LOL. Thanks. xD

Finally got around to rewatching it and you were right. Hong and Murtaugh exchange the watch on a different evening, but it was after Riggs and Lorna find out. I just got the order of events all wrong. LOL.
