The cell phone rant is one of the worst

jokes in the entire series. It's one of the worst jokes I've seen in a movie period. It is too long, doesn't make you laugh, and is generally flat to watch.

This movie has a few like that. Too many jokes that try too hard and don't know when to quit.

I think it's funny, but it goes on for way too long.

The part of that scene I really like was at the end of it when Chris Rock starts wondering why he's talking to Leo in the first place. That was funny.

reply

Yeah that scene was annoying, Chris rock was annoying too.

Too long? Hmmm...maybe but I still thought it was pretty funny, the way Leo bonds with Butters by ranting about phones. Then Butters wonders why he was talking to Leo and Leo thinks he's made a new friend.

Chris rock is always annoying. Im not really sure why he is so big, I've never found anything he says funny and he pretty much sounds like a male version of Fran Drescher.

When I first saw him show up at the beginning of the movie I knew I was in trouble.. I knew there would be some scene where he was going to be super loud and annoying.

And then the phone scene happened....

The problem with that scene is that unlike the previous Leo Getz rants, this one doesn't feel genuine. It's just Chris Rock going into stand up mode and doing his comedy routine. Most of Chris Rock's scene are like that. The film just stops so he can provide some "comedy". I've got no problem with the humour in these films, but when the story comes to a halt just so the popular comedian can do a bit, that's when it feels cheap and cringe-worthy.

Chris Rocks terrible speech about living on the floor as a kid - he was trying to force it and it was awful - bad writing, bad scene.

I believe the real problem was the rushed editing. Quite a feat for such a short time, but unfortunately, it shows

'When you hang a man, you better look at him.'
