Was the fight between Mel/Danny vs Jet Li the last great fight scene in an Hollywood film.Because I can't stand all this Matrix style crap,CGI and quick cuts that now dominate films and have done for years.
I just want to see the fight and blows been traded.I honestly can't think of a fight scene (excluding chineese films)since this that has been has good.

shareI agree, fight scenes for the most part suck these days. The Expendables and The Last Stand had good fights but that's to be expected since they had the classic action stars fighting.
Yeah that fight was brutal..and a great depiction of an over the hill guy with diminished skill but tenacity vs the young phenom. I also like that they werent afraid to have Murtaugh help Riggs this time around because that made it more realistic instead of Riggs fighting solo and somehow winning.

shareI just watched all 4 with my wife this past week and a half and she liked them alot ! I love them and 4 is so good with a great ending. I gave her the heads up that the end has one of the best fights ever and she loved the fight!
shareIndiana Jones is probably my favorite for that style of fighting. No fancy martial arts, no blurry blink-and-you'll-miss-it Bourne style fights, just people beating, kicking and elbowing the crap out of each other and fighting as dirty as possible with the camera making sure you feel every blow.
And yes, I like the fact that Riggs and Murtaugh were both fighting. They're both too old for this $#!t, but still manage to overcome the threat by having each other's back.

Modern movies are PG-13, and a lot of the nasty stuff gets cut to make the rating. So we see shots fired and they hit someone off camera, it sucks!
These older movies are gritty and I love them for it. The bit when they stab the metal spike through Jet Li's gut, then Riggs starts yanking on it, owwwww that'd hurt! Lol!
And the end, when he unloads the SMG into Jet Li's gut, again ouch!
I love movie violence, and it's always satisfying when the villain dies horribly. Modern movies can't do this if they're PG-13, and the movie suffers as a result.
Hollywood studios need to stop censoring art, and making bland rubbish for the sake of profit. It'll backfire, as these movies are forgettable and boring. Bring back real violence!

It's a great fight and I like the way it's filmed and the lack of dramatic music until the moment Jet Li squeezes Mel's throat.
I prefer the original to this but I much prefer the climatic fight here. I enjoy Riggs' fight against Joshua but didn't care for some of the camera angles, and the darkness and rain got in the way of actually been able to see everything. I know Richard Donner deliberately filmed it to resemble Vietnam, but it ruined a little for me.
This fight is terrific and one of the best ever in an Hollywood movie.

Jet li had a few good fight scenes in movies made after this in cradle 2 the grave he has a fight with a few cage fighter's also romeo must die, kiss of the dragon, the one and unleashed all have good fights by Li.
I get what your saying though new films are mostly supernatural fights.
