Lethal Weapon 5 or Reboot

I've been hearing off and on that there will either be a Lethal Weapon 5 or a reboot. I will say this, if it ends up being a reboot, I won't see it. I also that I heard about a possible spin-off involving the kids of the film, that I'll see.

Or they could just leave the franchise alone and be happy that it ended before it ran out of steam and made off with a hastily written, badly acted shameful DTV crapfest.

I didn't care much for the kids, and definitely not enough to watch a spin-off with just them.

Lethal Weapon 5 where Murtaugh is retired and Riggs gets partnered with a young hotshot. Comes full circle. Roger could be a consultant due to the new case resembling the one that earned him his detective badge back in the day. That's just for starters.

I wouldn't want either a reboot or another sequel, personally.

The only way I might give it a shot is if it's that idea I've heard about of Riggs and/or Murtaugh's kids becoming the main characters. I don't want the franchise continued, but if they decide that it absolutely has to be, that's the best way to go about it. The passage of time and the Riggs/Murtaugh family developing were a big part of the first four movies, so it would actually kind of fit the continuity well; and you wouldn't have to worry about watching Mel Gibson and Danny Glover trying and failing to act like they're still in a condition to beat up Triad kingpins, or watching new actors trying and failing to be Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Lethal Weapon 5 is what I want. Reboots usually sucks (new Fantastic Four, Ghostbusters probably).

Possible idea: Murtaugh is retired, possibly dead. Riggs instead is captain now. The 5th movie could introduce two hot shot cops freshly out from academy.
