Leave it off at 4. Ended well, plus these guys are old and gray now.

Totally agree! The Lethal Weapon series is one that ended well (unlike Die Hard or Indiana Jones). Don't ruin this one! They are *beep* up the Terminator franchise right now!
Leave Lethal Weapon alone!

Leathal Weapon series has been a symbol of great action and comedy combinations of the 1990s. The jokes were absolutely perfect.

Episode 5 released in 2012 is 5 years too late than I expected, after LW4 in 1998 I'd have loved to see the next part in 2008.

Side effects are, in 2012 episode no one is supposed to say "I'm too old for this *beep* which brings to expecting the cast to being fundamentally younger and different than the last part number 4. In fact, I am very afraid that episode 5 will kill the franchise.

reservoir cats, your post doesn't make any sense. In 2012 no one is supposed to say "I'm too old for this *beep* Why not? In fact, that line will finally be the most applicable it's ever been, haha. And then you go on to say that you expect the cast to be fundamentally younger and different than the last part, number 4? Again, why?

While I do agree with the general consensus that this would be a bad choice to make and that LW4 was the perfect closer, I felt compelled to point out the flaws in your post, reservoir cats, because the things you feel may be wrong with this possible 5th installment are actually not feasible complaints at all.

But in all honesty, I feel that this is just a hoax. I can't see anyone, meaning the writers, director, producers, OR Mel Gibson or Danny Glover (especially Danny Glover, who will be 66 in 2012) going through with yet another addition to the Lethal Weapon franchise at this point. I mean 5 movies is seriously a lot, even for an action series. This is probably just a false rumor that was somehow started and made it to the ears of IMDB.

"Leave it off at 4. Ended well, plus these guys are old and gray now."

They were old and greay then.

Just makes it prime for the "I'm too old this S***" jokes.

reply

Hey if Harrison Ford isn't too old neither is Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE A REBOOT! 

reply

I don't really want a Lethal Weapon 5. I think it should end at 4, not go any further. No offense, but that is how I feel of the idea of a Lethal Weapon 5. Besides, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are getting old so I would like to protest against the idea.

reply

Man i dont know... everyone is correct, this is if not my most favorite action/comedy series of all time, the chemistry between mel and danny was unmatched, every single movie has moments in it where roger and riggs become more and more closer and were right there along with them throughout all 4 movies

and if riggs said he was getting too old for this **** back in 98, man its been FOURTEEN YEARS, so i dont know how theyre gonna tackle THAT one, (obviously riggs and lorns kid is gonna probably play a HUGE role)

but honestly, i just wouldnt mind seein em all again... i just dont care, if it does turn into a flop or "kills the franchise" like some of you said , then just erase it from your memory christ, just pretend it doesnt exist and just be happy with the 4th, least we'll have another lethal weapon story to talk about, what we liked or didnt like, give it a chance, i for one have faith, donners not an idiot.

Well they would be making Roger 70+ if they stick with the "10 years older than Glover" thing which is a little bit excessive if you ask me. My grandad is 72 and he's dead!

Besides, I don't want to have to buy another Lethal Weapon box set. This is my third one!

reply

why do we need a Lethal Weapon 5? I thought the 4th movie ended well with Riggs, who is now a father, he has a kid, he wants to marry Lorna and Roger is a grandfather now that Rianne is a mother and Chris Rock is with her.

what could we possibly want a 5th movie for that was not told?

reply

Lethal Weapon 5, YEAH, put me down!!!

Maybe they're going to pull a Ghostbusters. I would really like to see Glover and Gibson back together again, but I'm on the fence about this. It wouldn't be the worst thing that happened and it could be interesting to see. Maybe they'll play it for laughs all the way. Actually the more I think about it, the more I like it. But it'd have to come out sooner than 2012 for it to work.

Sylvester Stallone is like 60 and he did Rambo 4 and 5 on the way. He also just did expendables...Both were very good action movies.

I've been pretty active on the LW 5 board but I'll just repeat some of my same sentiments. Basically LW 5 NEEDS TO HAPPEN!! I'd be so happy. The third and fourth films got a bit too goofy and moved away from that edgy and darker style that LW 1 and 2 had. Shane Black, the series creator is finally back and wrote the screenplay. That is a great thing. He is the right person to end the series that he created. LW can have it's credibility restored and let it ride off into the sunset with it's head held high.

Dalton and Craig! Accept NO substitutes!

I'm down for LW5!

I think both are too old for this shi........

Its that man again!!

meh... either the link doesn't work or they're not making LW 5 . . . .

It doesn't seem like they will be making another movie. It would've been kind of cool even though part 4 wasn't that good. It definately looks like a part 5 will never be made.

reply

I'd watch it, being a Gibson fan, but I'm kinda wary, for all the reasons mentioned in this thread...

I've always liked the LW movies, even 4 which was my least favorite in the series, but I really think this series really should be left alone as is.

reply

'Lethal Weapon 5'? That's pushing it a bit, Murtaugh will have been "too old for this sh*t" for twenty-five years.

reply

LOL! I would love to see a Lethal Weapon 5 for nostalgia's sake.

LMAO.

IDK - I'm kinda torn. I think this is one of those series that actually did things correct from one movie to the next - so a 5th installment would have a decent chance of actually being good.

But yeah they are probably too old for that S** anymore. And it leave a nice bookend to the series without having it ruined ala Crystal Skulls-style.

reply

LMAO.

Considering Roger was supposed to be 50 (and retiring soon then)in the first one, it's amazing he got to 4. Even if they started 5 tomorrow, by the time it came out Roger would be at least 80! Wow! Time to let it go!

If michael bay or James cameron would direct it, there's no harm in expecting it is there? LoL
