Why Palpatine would even want to rule the galaxy
I don't see how his life was better as Emperor than it was as Chancellor.

One he became the one ruler and the democracy was erased, there was not need of senate members and bureaucrats, etc. And with a empire system there was no danger from another one takes control, and his word would be the word of the empire, no one could stand against him because he would be the one. Also been knowing as The Emperor of the galaxy is a more badass title than just the Supreme Chancellor.
