palpatine told anakin "it seems in your anger, you killed her". he never said "with your force choke, you killed her".
well, he was a sith at the time, and a very angry one. he was angry enough to choke her (and probably cause early child birth).
she might have died from an unknown reason or because of his force choke, but whatever it was, it was related to him turning to the dark side and/or attacking her.

She didn't die from Force Choke, that much is certain. We actually don't know what killed her, because it most certainly was not from losing Anakin to the dark side or a light fall after Anakin released his grip.
shareOur only real clue is the medical robot saying "she has lost the will to live." So, from there we must ask, "what would cause someone to lose their will to live?" Well, the end/break up of an important, and committed long term relationship is a likely candidate, in which case, yes, losing Anakin to the dark side is the cause.

I quite like the theory that Sidious was exploiting the link between Anakin and Padme, draining her life and feeding it into Vader to keep him alive. It's something that a medical droid would not be able to explain or scan, so can't save her life.

The problem with that theory is that she was giving birth at the time of the break up. If George Lucas knew anything about women, he'd know that if there's anything that gives a woman the will to LIVE, it's the birth of a baby. And she was having two of them!
Yes, he lied. In his anger he choked her, but she wasn't dead.
sharePalpatine lied just to make Vader even more angry, he wanted to cause him pain, agony, and for Vader to release his rage. Had Vader killed her from that force choke then she would not have been dead pretty quickly showing that Anakin is holding back intentionally or subconsciously as force choke is only as powerful as the pressure applied by the person using that power.
Vader has killed with force choke before and the other time only used it to prove the force is strong, Luke uses it as well but does not kill with it.

I think the reason she died is because she gave up on life after being told that Anakin killed the younglings and after him physically harming her. Also, the government she had supported all her life was now destroyed.
If you agree that this is what killed her, technically Palpatine wasnt lying. Anakin's anger is what drove him to do those things and become a Sith.
