So are Jedi's supposed to listen to or ignore their feelings?

Lots of contradictory remarks about feelings are there in these movies. 'Listen to your feelings' 'Follow your heart''Stay rational' 'Do your job' 'Don't let your feelings betray you.'

Make up your mind, Jedi's. Am I supposed to be a rational being that stands above feelings, or am I supposed to close my eyes and listen to my heart?

I suppose they're supposed to ignore any selfish feelings and listen to the Force, but I suppose they allow themselves to occasionally listen to the more high-minded sort of feelings. They must feel so naughty when they do.

This is one of my biggest complaints about the Jedi. They seem to have a lot of trouble dealing with internal issues. They are instructed to ignore a lot of emotions rather than try to understand and control them.

There are plenty of mentions of middle ground force sensitives in EU and I would add QGJ to your list with Mace
