should krennic have made a cameo in ep.3?

I remember that brief scene at the end of the movie where Tarkin and Palapatine are standing together, observing the Death Star in the early stage of its construction.

Now that I've seen Rogue One, I'm starting to think Krennic should have either:

a) replace Tarkin as the one beside Palpatine
b) have Krennic appear next to Tarkin

Maybe when Disney acquires ownership of the two trilogies, they'll do something like this since so many things are possible with technology.

Btw, if Krennic was the one who actually oversaw the Death Star's construction, what was Tarkin's role exactly during those many years?

I would suggest reading Catalyst. It is a prologue novel to Rogue One and sort of a bridge between ROTS and RO. It explains Krennic's role in the construction of the DS, as well as his relationship with Tarkin.

So was Krennic at the Death Star construction site when it was still located above Geonosis, and the Empire wiped out the Geonosians shortly after it was moved?
