It's a little interesting, because in Episode III we see there are many towering skyscrapers closer to the temple.
sharehaha in the Discworld books the housing around the Unseen University (think Hogwarts, but more dangerous) is really cheap because the spells cast by student wizards made the area unstable, and "broken down spells" made strange things happen, like garbage coming to life.
