Ok.....was Clearburg really another detective or was he an alter ego of D.Z. I never figured that out.

Clearberg is another detective. But he's a hack.

Yeah, he's the one that screwed up the note to Stark by writing "boxer" instead of "boxes." Eventually, Zero figures it out, but this typo leads Arlo down a blind ally, looking for a boxer with the initials KV instead of a post office box. That's why Zero is so upset to learn that Clearburg was intially on the case. "That *beep* Clearberg, he *beep* up everything!" Zero rants. "He's repulsive. He's pissed on me too."
