Is this McGregor's best performance?

I liked him in Trainspotting, but he really pushed himself in this film to do something different. Has he been better in anything else ?

No - this was his best performance. I loved his singing and dancing. I love this film - saw it at the theater when it was released almost 20 years ago. I have it on VHS and have the movie poster, framed, in my office. I was around during the Bowie/T. Rex/Roxy Music days - saw many of their concerts in person. Those were good times!

I think he can become anything in a movie. But this one is just one of a kind. It gave all actors some amazing, memorable moments, memorable lines, so, yes, this is Ewans best role. This is also Johnny's best role and I saw pretty much every movie they did.

It's certainly way up there. Personally, I might rate Young Adam higher, but it's not as showy a performance as VG.
