What type of gun is that is it.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

i've not seen this movie in a while though so don't take that as gospel....it may have been a Beretta https://www.gearshop.nl/images/LG302.jpg

Robert Downey Jr's original firearm was a Taurus, possibly a PT945 model.

I also thought it was a Taurus.

I currently own the Taurus PT-111 (for conceiled carry)

Taurus has two things going for them that are better than Glock, the first one is that they have a lifetime warranty, that stays in affect no matter how many times the gun is sold. So used, it has the same warranty that it had when new! Next, Taurus's built-in lock mechanism. A great thing, but not always great to have. If you are in a panicked hurry, in your bedroom in the dark, and their is an intruder in the house... Anyway. I make my wife practice unlocking it with her eyes closed. She has it down pat.

Now as for anything else being better about a Taurus PT-911 I personally have to disagree. I have fired both Glock's, and Taurus's. What makes the Taurus PT-911 a better handgun than say a Glock 17? -Mind you, I am pro-Glock, but I also have my peeves about their handguns. So far, I haven't fired a handgun yet that I didn't like. But there has always been one or two things that I didn't like about each one.

So... How about some specific details about your experience with the Taurus PT-911, verses that of a Glock?

I will not say you're wrong, it's all about personal taste really.

I like the "first of all..."

The PT-111 hasn't been troublesome at all. It functions reliably and I've put about 3k rounds through it.

I got to spend some time with a Kimber 1911 this last weekend, and loved the way it handled. It however is way to big for concielded carry, and the thing is too big for my hands to boot. (I have tiny hands for a guy) I am likely to go with a Glock 35 (45 ACP)or the newer Glock 39 (45 GAP).

The first thing I was told when I was looking at the Taurus PT 111 before I bought it is that the pins holding the trigger mechanism in place were likely to break sooner than later. A frequent problem apparently with the polymer handguns that Taurus produces. The other problem this little beast has is that it has no internal safety. SO if it has a round chambered, and it gets dropped just right... >BANG<

I use my PT111 for home defense and personal carry. -Very sound reasoning! One should not use different handguns for different purposes (other than recreational, and that is a whole different ball of wax). Much as one should carry a handgun, conceiled, in a holster. In the same position, at all times. Having it in a shoulder holster one day, in a inside the pant holster the next day, and say holstered crossdraw the day after that is a mistake. When stress kicks in you will forget where it is. I personally carry it cross-draw, I was trained to do so, especially when driving. It is too damned difficult to draw a handgun, when it is sitting on you right hip, lodged in place by your seatbelt. Crossdraw? Out in a snap!

You mentioned "slip it in the waistband no problem." Well, you can do that, I don't. Mexican carry is not safe. Mind you, I'd still trust a person at my side carrying their gun like that... I will say that much. I just won't do it. The bad things that can happen carrying like that are far greater than the bad things that could happen having your personal carry in a holster.

Ah! Sorry. Misunderstood.

I've seen those holsters, very nice.

I am not sure of the make but I do agree it is some kind of model 1911. I would rather carry a 1911 over a Glock any day. I happen to own a S&W 1911 which also has a lifetime warranty as taurus. The guy that Downey plays doesn't know how to carry a 1911, the only proper way is cocked and locked (hammer back with safty on)

The rifle may indeed be a M4 style rifle, but the manufacturer logo is missing from the Lower assembly. As the lower assembly is virtually identical by all manufacturers of the AR15 style rifles... There is no way to say that it is a "Colt". It could just as easily be a Wilson combat, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc. (the logo is probably deliberately covered to hide what it is)
