Not a great movie, but for a seinfeld / curb fan, it's enjoyable

For a big seinfeld / curb fan, this movie had a lot to offer:

- curb-esque music throughout the movie

- various seinfeld guest actors / actresses

- larry david cameos

- acted as a precursor to some curb eps

- the clear mockery of Friends via the Guys and Gals TV show (I happen to like the 1st 5 seasons of Friends, but it was clear that larry did not)

- basically felt like larry david was speaking through the actors (which was bad for the typical viewer, but funny for the fan)

So yeah, it wasn't a great movie, but I still enjoyed it after the fact. I feel like if larry waited til curb aired for a few years to make this, it would've come out much better.

I agree. Yes, technically, its not a good movie but I laughed more in this than other movies *cough* get him to the greek *cough*. I kinda love this movie a little bit just because of the awesome Larry David humor.

Wore pants... sometimes, Starred in movies that appeared in our mind

(I hate when people make a statement without giving examples or explaining what they base it on)

I'm pretty sure he was just talking about the style and tone, not saying that a particular episode (or episodes) was directly imitating this film.

Larry David always speaks through the actors, which is fine me for as well.

I saw this shortly after it was released, and I remember being disappointed, like it was an "off" episode of "Seinfeld." But I just watched it again and absolutely loved it. I guess I needed a good laugh, and this had plenty of them. More than anything, it had great writing and dialogue. 8/10 stars from me.

Thanks for posting this, I've been tossing & turning over whether to watch this anytime soon, & this has confirmed that it's probably worth my time. My expectations aren't high, but now it sounds like exactly what I'd hoped it would be :)

Yeah, it's interesting. Friends used to come on at 8:00 and Seinfeld would come on at 9:00. They could put any stupid show in between them and it would get monster ratings until they then tried it out on a different night where it would tank. There would be a new show like that every season.

Anyway, one night NBC came up with the idea of a theme night. All the shows were set in New York and in every one of them the plot would be the power goes out throughout the city. All of the shows did it except Seinfeld. I'll bet it was Larry who thought that was stupid and he wasn't going along with it. So when Seinfeld comes on it was announced that the power was magically back and then after it they announced that it had gone out again.

You wonder if he started to hate Friends from that moment.
