US Rangers, trained by and modelled on Royal Marines Commandos
Just as Delta were based upon the SAS. But still, were their own elite team of warriors

shareYeah, that's right.
shareYanks try to hide this. Lol
And Delta based directly upon the SAS, by a US officer attached to that elite British regt.
I've never seen any evidence we try to hide it. Every source that I have ever read, or documentary that I have ever seen has acknowledged that the Rangers were initially modeled on the British commandos and that their training was done by them. Same for Delta Force: every source has acknowledged that the unit was created by Charles Beckwith after he, a captain in the special forces, had been sent to Britain as an exchange officer and assigned to command 3 Troop, A Squadron, of 22 Special Air Service Regiment. He saw action with that unit in Malaya. Upon his return to the U.S. he began pushing for the creation of an SAS-type unit in the U.S. army, as he saw the potential vulnerability of not having one. He got nowhere for years in the face of opposition from overly conservative superiors. He only got his way at last in the seventies, when the rising threat of international terrorism showed the need for such a unit among U.S. forces.
I've never seen anything like a campaign to suppress or downplay this mission, so this post sounds like yet more anti-American Yank bashing.
