Private Jackson was cocky.

Didn't anyone else think he was a tad arrogant and up himself? Just like in the field scene when he said he'd be able to get close enough to Hitler to kill him and end the war by himself. He just acted like he was the best and better than the rest of the squad. He didn't talk much to anyone else, either. I think he was a bit into himself...

I liked Jackson, but he seemed to be a bit of the stereotypical, "country bumpkin" war movie character.

"Oh yeah, one more thing....where can I get a pizza?."

Perfect attitude for a sniper.

He didn't say he could get close enough to Hitler by himself, he said:

"Well, what I mean by that, sir, is... if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile of Adolf Hitler with a clear line of sight, sir... pack your bags, fellas, war's over. Amen."

That is, get him to within a mile of Hitler and he'd be able to shoot him.

That's not an impossible statement for a sniper.

he's basically saying "we're going the wrong way, the war is that-a-way"

reply

Well that's the type of arrogance I'd want in a sniper who's covering me in war.

Would you want him to say something like "hey guys I don't think I could kill a moving target or anything farther than 100 yards away and the thought of taking a life scares me" because that's not who is want as my sniper cover.

Amen, iycb!

Its not arrogance if you're as good as you say you are, its confidence.

On the other hand, 1 mile with an '03 is a bit of a stretch.
