It's ok sweety. Some day an adult will explain the movie to you. Until then you can just sit there and watch the neat explosions. 

Haha this movie can be understood completely by a 10 year old. The visuals are great, especially for the time. But the emotions and themes of the film are about as simple as it gets, even for a war movie. That doesn't make it bad, but it does keep it from being great.

Why'd you feel Ryan was douchebag? I thought he was quite capable soldier who found the rescue mission just as stupid as the others did. There was a long and dangerous road back and agreeing to return immediately would have risked his own team.

Because he didn't cure cancer or invent a long-lasting light bulb. He just grew old to be a "good man".

Well, this is a fantasy story based upon some things which happened in the real world. Who's to say he didn't cure cancer or invent a long-lasting light bulb? 
