What WAS in the syrup? I know Gilly was making a potion, but what was her intention?

It was filled with ingredients for a banishing spell..to get rid of Detective Hallet. Not to kill him..just make him go away.

ahhh. it makes finally sense now!!! I thought they wanted to banish the ghost of Angelov! Then, when they were about to give it to Hallet, I was like "heh, why???"
