After Hallie pierced Annie's ears, how could they not have gotten infected? You're supposed to treat your pierced ears every day for a few weeks right after getting them pierced by putting a special liquid on them, aren't you?

Also, wasn't Meredith a little too young for Nick?

They should be kept clean. Many years ago it was rubbing alcohol that was used. I have no idea if they still do or if they use a antimicrobial soap for ears.
