When were women in China actually allowed to be in the military?

And not be something like a nurse, but actually go into boot camp and be a soldier.

I would assume that the original poem didn't persuade government officials to allow women into the military.

not until modern times I think. armies have understandably been wary of allowing women in combat for obvious reasons - lack of physical strength compared to men, risk of becoming pregnant etc.
