10 years already!?

I can't believe today is the 10 year anniversary of Mercury Rising's release. I remember I was in fifth grade when it came out...i also remember the newspaper that my family had subscribed to at the time gave it a very poor review (one star out of four i believe it was). But that did't stop me from going to see it. Good film. Time certainly flies.

I agree. I took my then-fiance to see it as she was interested in the kid with autism plot. She was working with kids with autism then, and as I understand it, she is still working to find a cure for autism, God bless her. I remember buying the John Barry score when it came out, too.

yeah i agree, this film is clearly better than it's 5.x/10 rating claims it is.

i give it a solid 7/10 , and if i had to choose a 6 or 8 i would say 8.

p.s. nice quote there from 'Reservoir Dogs' ;)

I remember seeing this on TV when I was 13 which was in 1999. That was when I first heard about autism. I thought it was when they are all quiet and they don't talk and they scream and don't like to be touched by strangers. I even thought all auties could do that code thing.

Must have seen this film about 5 times now after it was on the TV the other Sunday.

Great film. Deserves more than a 5.7.

Yeah, recorded it on bt vision when it was on.
Watched it last night and some this morning. Brilliant film.
My mum works at a primary school where there is a special needs department, and apparently there are a few children there who are like Simon.

It is one of those films you can watch over and over and it doesn't seem to get boring.

I'd say a solid 9/10.

I Agree it makes a person feel old when a movie they can remember seeing in the theater reaches a decade age mark. I was 27 when it came out and have a hard time believing it's been that long already. lol.

reply

What do you mean by 10 years? It's 16 years!

reply

No, you are wrong. It's 17 years! 
