I loved her when she could take care of herself and wasn't like all the other damsels in distress from all the other Zorro films but I could have lived without the stable fight scene between her and Zorro. I wished that was not in the film.

I loved how the director created this strong female character without going too far, but I disagree about taking off her fight scene with Zorro it's one of favorite scenes of this movie.
In that scene is where we see her strength and it's one of the hottest scenes in this movie.
And I have Catherine Zeta Jones was more than perfect for Elena.
She had an amazing chemistry with Antonio Banderas and gave a very good performance
I think that is my problem with the scene, sex appeals, why was it nessacery? Looked more like she was there to prove she wouldn't fall for Zorro and she was eager to meet with him. Oh and showing off.
shareWell for me that scene was like she was looking for her father's interest and was very serious about it but then she saw Zorro was just playing so she followed him.
What started as a real threat and fight, it became just a game and a challenge of who was better in sword fighting.
i could hardly stand her. Typical hollywood "girl whos gorgeous but super tough like a man" character. That and she had to stick her nose in every scene. We're going to blow up the mine with dynamite and kill the pheasants, hey why not bring Elena along?

sharei do wish there were more movies like this in the making. right now were fixated on the superhero movies, batman, xmen iron man etc. I love Zorro story cuz it takes place during REAL events, not made up bs
