Biggest goof ever

Surely Christina Applegate's character would have remembered giving birth? So she was shocked when she found out she had a son... um, surely she gave birth to him...?

That's the joke. It was a spin on the fact that the woman always comes back and has a kid that the man never knew about. and they always say they named him/her after the father. They were reversing the situation. Actually the biggest goof was that Applegate's character was a female president, thats just laughable.

takeoff of Forrest Gump, like the "run, florist, run" scene

That's not really a goof, more of a spoof.

He who does not punish evil commands it to be done.

He meant that the scene with Christina Applegate was not a goof, but rather, a spoof of the scene in Forrest Gump in which Jenny tells Forrest that he has a son. It's intentionally ridiculous because *of course* a woman would know she had a child!

...That's cute.

Bob & Ray did a similar gag on their radio soap opera "Garrish Summit"

Rodney: Mother, this man is an imposter. I'm your only son!

Agatha: Well, I'm just trying to remember...

reply

No she didn't remember giving birth, it was a joke.

And don't call me Shirley.

OK thanks for clearing this up =)

This could also mean that Diane isn't really the mother and Jay had an affair with another woman named Diane. Just because the little boy is named Diane, it doesn't mean that Diane Steen is his mother.

reply

Wow... you really read too much into that joke.
