Anyone can tell me what was cut in the American version?

Have this DVD for a while but never watched it. This afternoon I finally watched it and I love it! Music is so touching, acting is definitely great. Little bit dissapointed of the ending, though. I understand his spirit would stay with the ship forever, but they should have given him a more legend death.

Since ppl here says the European version has 40+ mins content, I am rather curious to know what I've missed. There isn't anything about the ship/1900 in the war . I wonder is it the part has been cut?
Anyone mind to let me know? Thanx a lot in advance.

There isn't a thing about the war in that movie. Nor is there much about the ship. Remember, his "storytelling friend" walked off the ship 1933 (if I recall correct).

Btw, I've only seen the 160 version, so I can't say precisely... perhaps tell us what scenes/things you saw and then we fill the blank spots?

There's lots of... well, character-development. "Chats" between the two or 1900 playing piano, either alone in the evening (the scene with the old man "who can hear the voice of the sea") or in the "lower decks" full of people. Or a quite long scene how 1900 plays piano "according to what people look like". Or does the 120 version have the part where 1900 almost goes off the ship? Or... how much of the childhood is shown?

Ahrh... I'm probably not helping. Someone who has seen the both movies should answer this one.

i think all the scenes you've mentioned are in the american version.

For extensive details of the longer original cut, see my thread called roughly **************SPOILERS DETAIL OF LONGER CUT***************, on the board for 'La Leggenda del Pianista sull'Oceano'. Hope that helps! :)
