shareWell, for one thing he doesn't necessarily "throw it into the ocean". He just throws it. That's it. Although with a direction somewhat towards the land, but not definitely to the land.
Perhaps it could be related to the "why paintings fall off the wall???" thing which was so intensely talked about by Max? Doesn't it seem as if in the decisive moments he, a human, prefers to give the decisive power into the hands of something else? Be it whatever, hat if you wish!
