Has one of my very favorite scenes (besides the duel)

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it was a situation where I rented it 'on spec', knew nothing about it, wasn't expecting much, but got so much more than anticipated.

For some reason, I really loved the scene where 1900 and Max meet - during the storm, where Max is violently seasick, and 1900 takes him for a ride on the piano in the ball room to get his mind off the nausea. I know it's sheer fantasy, could never happen that way, blah, blah, blah, but as far as I'm concerned it was utterly captivating magic.

So many other movies, I lose my 'willing suspension of disbelief', but here I held on to it with both hands and laughed out loud with joy.

Oh, yeah, the duel was pretty good, too...

I saw this film on HBO, and I totally agree with you, that scene rocked :)

Hahaha, yeah, the Magic Waltz was really funny.. Did you notice that when they crashed into the captain's cabin, the captain was wearing his life jacket.? Hahaha..

The same thing happened to me, I rented it on a whim and as soon as I saw the piano waltz I was in love. I rewound it and watched that scene again and again. As it slid down the corridor did you see the shoes moving out of the way? I loved it. The duel was great but I also loved the scene where he's asked to play a tarantella.

"Beauty......It's a beast."

Indeed! I rented this on a lark and was completely blown away by it. The piano waltz was truly amazing...and the scene when 1900 was making the record inspsired only by the girl. Also the scene when 1900 was setting different people in the audience to music. I don't think I'll ever by able to listen to music the same way again. Oh, yeah, the piano duel...magnficent!

The scene that did it for me had to be when 1900 was explaining to Max where his music came from. Hearing these people in the audience come to life through the music he was playing was amazing.

Can't we all just get along?

My favourite scene in this film has to be the part where he was making the record... he played while watching the girl outside.
That part was truely beautiful.

I agree with all of you, but for me, when (and i know it was supposed to be bad ass) he placed the cigarette on the string and it caught on fire.... Holy Shizzit! that was awesome.

I actually laughed in excitement at how awesoem that was!
