I thought she looked great but seemed to lack energy. Her performance was kind of flat, hence the film just missed the mark for me.

Really?

I thought the performances from Arquette and Penelope Cruz were the only good things about this badly scripted film.

Ribbons and detours meant nothing to me
Swaying our sympathies, pulling our strings...

I thought the whole cast did a great job, Arquette included. Sexy, deceitful and vulnerable. Her most memorable moment for me was her twisting expression of pain and remorse as Pete penetrates her. It communicated both deep physical and emotional distress. She used her voice to good effect too. The movie's last scene has her whimpering through the dialogue. It felt strange, affected, and true to her character.
