Part II was not in this timeline

Think about it: Michael and Loomis blew up at the end of part II. This clearly takes place after the original. It would make sense for Laurie to disappear and Loomis obsess over finding Michael after he disappeared at the end of 1. They did throw in the brother/ sister link in, just because it had been there for 5 movies already. But i'll never understand anyone who thinks this was the sequel to part 2, it wasn't, at all

Second film happened and mentioned. John Tate : You told me you watched him burn. Laurie : I didn't exactly stick around to see his ashes. Direct quote from H20 proving it counts.
He didn't burn in the first film. Had that line not been said, I would agree with you. Nothing else but that says II happened.

That and the fact that they are brother and sister. This wasn't revealed until part II. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Also, there are newspaper clippings on Loomis' wall that picture Laurie being wheeled out of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital and headlines about the explosion.

You're right about that. Forgot about the clipping.

This film includes the events of H2 but it picks and chooses which plot points to acknowledge while conveniently ignoring others. It didn't help that the diretor (Steve Minor) admitted to hating H2 and even stated in interviews that he considers H20 a direct sequel to H1.

To simplify things, I think H2 should have been ignored altogether and have H20 pick up 20 years after Michael disappears from the Doyle's back yard at the end of H1. There wouldn't be any baggage to address from ANY of the sequels and H20 literally could have started with a clean slate.

Loomis surviving isn't a plot hole.
