Very good movie; lackluster pacing.
The first and last 20 minutes get an A from me but especially the final act takes SOOO long to get going and once it does the movie is over in 20 minutes or less.

Agreed.

Her talk with Norma was good, but it was less than 5 minutes. The opening with Marion, the dubbed Loomis voice over those were good. The rest, not so much.
Parts of the film were okay, but the rest was indeed lackluster. Rather than go into detail, I just agreed.

Yeah, the same with Halloween II (1981) for me. Pacing issue, but very nostalgic.
shareHalloween II was a mess, right along with this one. Between Rosenthal, Carpenter both filming scenes, Universal, Akkad and DeLaurentiis' input it's a miracle it was coherent at all. Too much blood and gore, not enough suspense and tension, the bread and butter of the original. This was all about the kills, not the build to them.

I actually thought that the pacing was spot-on (and probably the film's biggest pro). It pretty much whips by and is over before you know it. I've always dug that about this film.
Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.
I thought the pacing was perfect but needed a longer running time.
shareNo. Too much filler crap. Nobody needed to see their little off campus lunch or John wooing Molly with flowers. John's reveal was fine, but it took too long to build. And definitely didn't need the Scream 2 cameo or Sarah and Molly's conversation with Will Brennan. Pacing was awful. The original flowed, this one had way too many cutaways. Even Ronnie's reading his book over the phone to his girlfriend was ridiculous and out of place.
