Accuracy?

I love this movie, but I'm curious how accurate it is. Did Whale really attend a party at George Cukor's the day before he died? Was the relationship between him and his gardener really as presented? Obviously, the flashbacks, hallucinations and subtleties of Whale's insanity in the film are creative license, but in terms of objective happenings does anyone know how true this is to his last days?

I was wondering that as well. I was wondering if there is a picture of Boris, Elsa, and James after all those years...

"Where's the sherbert, mother?"
"It's there, beneath the layer of protective ice..."

I can't answer with complete authority, but I think you may actually have it backwards...

As far as I know, Whale did start to go a little bonkers at the end of his life; on the other hand, I'm almost 100% sure that the character of "Boone" and most of the events in the film are fictional, invented first for the novel and then adapted for the film.
