The Soundtrack To Gods And Monsters:opinions?? ?

I thought the soundtrack to Gods And Monsters was fantastic.And it complemented the scenes so well.also the way they took the scene from "Bride of" with the creature being hypnotized by the music of the blindmans violin into his hut and replaced the original song with the theme.That scene was so inspiring that i wanted to take the original movie and add parts from the soundtrack of G&M and mix it in with the "Bride...".Does anyone else think the soundtrack was good?

I just saw Gods and Monsters a couple days ago, and the first thing that got my attention was the sound track. Very hauntingly beautiful.

Seemingly influenced by late nineteenth century romantism, the "Gods and Monsters" soundtrack is hauntingly lush, poignant, mysterious and beautiful. My personal favorite is the closing selection simply called "Friend?" The song appears to strongly compliment the closing image of Clay Boone stumbling out into the evening rain walking the "monster's" awkward gait. Check out the ghostly image to Clay's left during this closing scene.

One of my favourite scores. Very subtle, very beautiful. The haunting violin accompanying the floating corpse at the end gets me every time.

One of the finest works of Carter Burwell. Like it´s been said here, totally haunting. I love the tragic atmosphere created by the strings.

A couple of years late but what the heck...

The soundtrack to G&M is hauntingly beautiful. Carter Burwell is one of the best composers of his generation. His music definitely complements each movie and in some cases (like G&M and And The Band Played On, off the top of my head) the music is like another crucial character.

Like Bernard Herrmann in the 40s - 80s (Psycho, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Citizen Kane), Burwell has scored some of the best movies of the last 20 - 30 years.

I saw the DVD a couple of hours ago and the theme is still going through my head. An amazing film and haunting score. Brilliant.

Even though this song isn't in the movie and was made long after the movie. Try to listen to a rare song called 'cataclysm', by Din Fiv. It uses recordings from the movie.

Listened to the song. Nothing remotely connected to the movie mate. No sound bytes or anything. Could it be that you saw some sort of fanvid or something of the sort where someone edited in parts from the movie?

Fans of this score should note that Carter's score for BEING JOHN MALKOVICH is very much in the same vein as his score for GODS - it's like GODS slowed down and yes he wrote GODS first. His score for Bill's KINSEY is also A-MAZING and so emotional. You should all check it out. Carter sells that score from his own label directly via Amazon. I have little doubt that he'll be scoring RICHARD PRYOR for Bill shortly.

Bill Condon is doing the Richard Pryor movie? AND Carter Burwell is scoring?!?!?! FREAKIN SHWEEET!

And you're right about those movies. Although, I think Kinsey's sound was closer to that of Being John Malkovich. The tone he set in Being... was a little more sinister compared to the vary sympathetically driven Gods.

Excellent score (and the themes are original as far as I know, unlike Burwell's themes for Fargo and Miller's Crossing).
