Did her husband sleep with her sister in real life? And if so, what the heck was her sister thinking?

Yes, Kahlo's husband had an affair with her sister, Cristina. It devastated Kahlo, and she and Rivera were eventually divorced (though they later remarried).

not trying to defend her or anything - what she did was wrong - but her husband did treat her badly and beat her and she said she envied fridas marriage to diego. i guess she just wanted to know what it felt like to be her sister for a while and be loved...
