Exellent Biopic!

Five minutes into this film I was completely taken aback. The colors and visuals were superb. Normally when watching a film the first thing I notice is the acting, but for some reason the first thing I noticed was the costuming. Julie Weiss did a great job! As far as the acting went, I was deeply impressed by Salma Hayeks performance. Her Oscar nomination was one I strongly agree with. I was surprised however that Alfred Molina was not nominated. He gave a wonderful performance as the womanizing Diego Rivera. I also loved the fact that well known actors were used in small parts (Ashley Judd, Antonio Banderas) One of the best biopics in years!

and the music is one of the best music scores in cinema history!

Agreed. The director, Julie Taymor, has excellent visual concepts. This is also shown in her other film, "All Across the Universe".

Also true imo. Even with the great talent here what makes this work is that Frida and Diego Rivera were very interesting people who were involved in important historical events.
Secondly, Frida is one of the great artistic discoveries. She was a brilliant painter who was under appreciated (whether she was a woman or from Mexico I'm not sure). But no longer.

I enjoyed the movie. It was one of the best biopics I have seen. Great performances by Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina!

This was definitely a colorful film.
