FF movie Fox turned down in the ‘90s

Would have been directed by Chris Columbus, but would have been three hours long and more than Fox wanted to spend on a superhero movie so they canned it.

Parts of it were adapted for the 2005 version though.

The 90's movie was never intended to be released. It was only made to preserve the rights due to the contract.

You’re thinking of the Roger Corman no budget quickie that was produced before rights reverted to Fox.
