Who would like to see another with the same actors?

No, you are not alone. I thought 1 & 2 were great movie interpretations.. more interesting than Batman by a long shot. But, of course, a totally different world-view. The FF related better to scientist stories than underworld thugs.

Can a re-boot really improve it? Maybe the majority just like cops and robbers stories. In that case, we won't see a more popular movie.

Although the Fantastic four was low brow fun, its come to a point that a conceptual reboot will be the better option.

Its that man again!!

What makes you say that?

reply

Maybe stupidity makes him say that. A remake/reboot is a stupid idea.

reply

I would prefer a conceptual reboot, like X-Men: First Class. That movie, with its great 1960s production design and strong, emotional story-telling, was what the Fantastic Four movies should have been.

Tim Story's Fantastic Four movies were surprisingly Black in small ways (such as the songs on the soundtrack) and not well-grounded in any special time or aesthetic.

I don't think the costumes were good. The blue stretchy look was OK, but when was Johnny's red jacket ever cool, or how was the cloak of Doom in the first movie supposed to look grand? Costume design shouldn't begin and end with what the heroes will look like when they are suited up.

The only character with a really strong, emotional story in the first movie is the Thing, Ben Grimm. That's not enough.

Michael Chiklis grabbed that role with both hands. Chris Evans was good too, with the brotherly Torch/Thing stuff. So its understandable that some people would want the same actors back.

reply

I would agree with you had they not picked such young actors to re-boot the franchise. Suddenly the old cast doesn't seem so bad...

reply

I enjoyed both films and was glad to see that someone can still make a fun superhero movie that doesn't feel the need to take itself too seriously. I am not a big fan on this push for everything to be dark these days, even when not appropriate. I think that more than anything is why folks are so critical of films like FF4. It's sad. I would love to see another film in this series. A reboot may or may not be better. It just depends on what they do with it.

These films are not perfect and have a few things I don't care for, but then again, most films do. Big deal. They're fun for the whole family...where's the harm in that?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

please no, someone actually talented and white to be susan would be preferable (and no, thats not being racist susan looks white, is white, has a white brother, blonde, etc.) like rachel mcadams

Jayne Mansfield: A woman should be pink and cuddly for a man.

I had no problem with Jessica Alba's acting or appearance. She gave us a very sympathetic Sue Storm. I enjoyed all of the cast members' performances and was only disappointed that it stopped. Now, with Chris Evans out being Captain America, to reassemble the original cast will be kind of odd.

It is my hope that they will not attempt an origins story but move on with the story arc and on to other adventures. Who really wants to see a repeat told differently? I hope that's a rhetorical question. But who knows, they keep reinventing Superman and Batman and I don't really think they've helped their franchises there.

reply

Not me. Once bitten, twice shy. After Evans has played Captain America I don't want to see him flip back to play Johnny Storm again.

The only actor I'd take from these movies is Chikalis for Ben Grimm. He was perfect.

reply

Yes, Chikalis was a good choice for that part. The new one, I have heard, will feature a CGI Thing. From what I have gathered, the Thing from the Ultimate series was significantly bigger than a human actor can be - and fans of this were really put-off by the man in a suit. So its possible that Chikalis could voice the Thing's lines. As far as I was concerned, I liked all of it, even the updated Dr. Doom played by Julian McMahon. I liked the idea of Doom being a living metal condenser cell! And, they kept the uniforms, unlike almost all of the other Marvel heroes.

reply

I liked both movies, I'd take a third movie with Black Panther, a CGI Thing and a more bad ass Dr Doom sure. No more reboots though, Batman Begins did it well but they don't all have to copy.

X-men FC was a prequel/reboot and Incredible Hulk a sequel/reboot. They should never have rebooted Spider-man either and now they're rebooting Superman.

reply

I'm hoping we'll be adding The Amazing Spider-Man to the list of successful reboots. A sequel was out of the question once Raimi, Maguire and Dunst jumped ship.

if you ever wanna see the FF team up with The Avengers, you can't have Cpt America and in the Human Torch in the same room. If the team up is gonna happen, there's gonna be a reboot just like there WILL be a reboot of batman so he can join the Justice League.

reply

This is true. Sadly, that ship sailed when Chris was given the Cpt. America part. Too bad, he was a great Torch! =/

What if we got his brother Scott to play Torch? They retouched Legolas for the Hobbit movies, and used siblings for Paul Walker in Furious 7. I know, they already have a Fantastic Four reboot coming out this summer, but if it's a dud, maybe use the original team for the team-up with the Avengers. Certainly a long shot, but who knows?

reply

No thanks

reply

I don't think it needs a reboot, these films and actors performances are as close as you'll get to the comics. I think they're both brilliant features full of action, deliberate bad acting ( I think!?) and humour and it's so close to the experience of reading the actual comics.
Come on lets get the third instalment out soon - can't wait to see my two favourite marvel characters (save for the Hulk) clash.

reply

They have barely touched the scope of the Fantastic Four universe. The FF will be rebooted because one of the actors has clearly moved on.

Of course I think this is one story where they can continue from a later point. They don't always have to start at an origin. TIH quickly gave us the origin but the movie starts a year after he got his powers. In a way it kinda continues off from the previous film where Banner was in south america.

reply

yes; i'd also like to see the trilogy finished. if only to see how they managed to defeat galactus. that sort of implies that no reboot; at least until they finish this saga. &btw, the first movies weren't that bad; as a lot of people wrongly claim them to be; i thought they were pretty good, and clever interpretations of the comic

reply

The Four were fine. I just think Doom was terrible! So would have worked with a better actor. In my opinion the same thing happened with Spider-Man. Osbourne was badly cast. Look at X Men. magneto played by McKellen. Spider-Man 2. Molina as Ock, although I thought Maguire was a terrible Peter Parker and an average Spidey. It's all about casting right

reply

Also think the 4 were great, the problem with the movie was Doom, but I don't think it was the actor's fault. the script got Doom totally wrong and the sequel was even worst, Galactus as a cloud???
The best CBM are the ones with great villains, so much potential on Doom and Galactus...
