Ben Grimm's girlfriend was a superficial sniveling little bitch

First she runs off crying because her husband-to-be looks different. She doesn't even give him a chance; just takes one look at him, screams 'don't touch me,' and runs away terrified, having made up her mind that her fiance wants to hurt her. Then later in the movie, she witnesses Ben performing an act of heroism, but instead of realizing that her husband-to-be is a hero and that it was rash of her to reject him because of his looks, she again breaks down crying like the little bitch she is, takes off her engagement ring and drops it on the street. Ben shouldn't have been so sad. Debbie did not appreciate him for who he was, and he was much better off without her.

She is a bitch. Alicia is better for him.

This. She never even let him explain. I'm sure she had to have seen that interview of them all talking about what happened and she STILL didn't care.

I totally agree, Alicia was not only a much better match for Ben, she was also a much better person. Ben was better of without that b*tch anyway, I saw their breakup as a blessing, because Ben was eventually able to meet the lovely Alicia; his TRUE love match and soulmate.

B*tch!

BITCH!!!!

Probably because it's Andrea from The Walking Dead

What's funny is in The Shield, Vic Mackey(Chiklis) *beep* over the same actress that played the girlfriend.

reply

You'd think Grimm would be happy to find out before they married just what a shallow bitch she is. Saved him a lot of pain in the future

I was vastly amused she took to time to get all the way onto the bridge, through the massed crowds and right to the front when he could see her, just so she could screw up her face and drop the ring dramatically on the ground.

That's going the extra mile.

reply

Putting it that way, you actually have to admire her aßholeness.

Well, he did loose his dick. So basically he was a big and stupid very hard rock. No women would want to be with him. She did go over the top, but they didn't have time for her to dump him slowly and more realistically. It's like Torch and The Thing being enemies and then becoming friends in 10 minutes. It's a cartoonist movie for kids. I did enjoy watching it. It was so bad that it was good.

"No Women would want to be with"
Never mind assuming we know he has no dick, he did get another women in the end, and according to the sequel they have sex.

Yeah, I thought that at the time when I first saw this movie in my local multiplex. Overall I quite liked the film but that moment just didn't sit right with me at all. The film had it's other flaws but that one I think was the one that bothered me the most next to the poor design of Doctor Doom's costume.

Her standards must have been set low anyway so why not go lower? Ben wasnt exactly a model LOL

Laurie Holden was so likeable, admirable and memorable as Andrea in "TWD" it's hard to take her as a shallow beauty queen type here (even though I saw Fantastic Four when it came out, a few years before "TWD" premiered). I think the filmmakers were right to cast blonde for Debbie but they should have cast someone better at projecting bitchiness/bimbo-like attributes than Holden who is better at playing strong, smart women.

Still, I think any spouse would be, at least initially, disturbed to see their other half look like The Thing so one can't be too harsh about her initial reaction.

Oh, you English are so superior, aren't you?

She was likable as Andrea in the beginning but after she fell under the influence of the Governor and refused to admit to herself he was a sadistic bastard when the evidence was staring her in the face she became a lot less likable. But a lot of intelligent people are taken in by cult leaders.
