Xmas movie?
Yes or no
shareI guess so. It's always kind of weird to watch it any other time of the year and see the references to Christmas.
shareI just rewatched the whole movie now start to finish on tv.. started to watch the first few minutes with the intention of switching over but got hooked (last time saw it probably around 99 on VHS rental and had forgot most of it only recalled random stuff like Smith in the lingerie store, Byrne's cameo as the decoy and most of the stuff with Hackman and the end showdown) and didn't remember or notice before but like Die Hard its set at Christmas and theres Christmas stuff the whole way through even working into the plot (the Christmas gameboy gift hiding the disc) so just as much a Xmas movie as that .. (also like The Rock being a sort of unofficial sequel to Connerys Bond this was kind of to The Conversation..the same kind of deal with the new 90s action hero paired up with a movie legend basically playing an old age version of his famous movie role)
shareIt's been a while since the last time I've seen this, but as far as I can remember the events in the movie would have happened regardless of Xmas time. So, no, it's not a Xmas movie. It's not like Die Hard, where Xmas has to happen for all the players to be at the Nakatomi (was that the name?) building.
shareYeeeees, this and Die Hard 1-3 and The Family Man are some of the best Xmas films imo
