the fight scenes are better, the acting is better, the plot and pacing are all perfect...and no freaking cgi all over the damn place. Vikings, hot women with spears, and maniac cannibals in bearskins...the enemies in this film are scarier than any orcs Peter Jackson has served up (and no cockney accents either...WTF is that all about?)
I'll take this over some hobbit film any time i'm given the choice.

come on now, the 13th warrior is a great movie. the hobbit is a great movie in itself. Tolkien is a genius and Peter Jackson did a great job putting it on film. you can't take away from either one.
shareI enjoy both the Peter Jackson movies and this film. I do like the absence of CGI and the great cinematography there. And I really think that the hall in this film was the basis on which they built the Great Hall of Meduseld in The Two Towers.

shareHell yeah. Hobbit films are garbage man. I read the Hobbit book envisioning Bard and Laketown people as somewhat Vikingesque and they turned them into lamebrains for the films.
