Missing one of the 13?

Ok, 2 die in the first attack, 4 more in the fire worm, and the one who always wore the breastplate died in the attack on the queen. Thats 7. There's only Bulwif, Ibn, Edghto, Herger, and Weath at the end. That leaves one other who I never saw or heard of dying?

The archer's son.

Didn't realize he had a son. You read book?

I imagine most of his scenes get cut out of the film we never really see him travelling with the warriors but there is a scene where the oracle is asking for volunteers where the boy speaks up

Actually the boy pops up a few times since the scene with the oracle. Off the top of my head:
1) When they get off the boat and the herald approaches. Both the boy and the archer grab their bow and quiver, then take cover in the trees on opposite sides of the group.
2) In the scene where they first meet the king in his hall. Beowulf bends forward to whisper in the king's ear, while the other 12 warriors stand shoulder to shoulder in the background. The boy is standing next to the archer.
3) In the battle preparations before the fire worm, the boy is helping lift a quiver of arrows onto the roof of the hall. The archer walks up, places a hand on his shoulder then hands him another quiver.
4) When the remaining warriors go to the Wendell lair, he is on horseback with them as far the piles of bear bones. He does appear to go with them to the Wendell camp but not go into the lair. I assume they sent him back with the horses and the extra gear they did not take with them. ( like Herger's bow and arrows, which we don't see after he shoots the guard).
5) When Herger is saying good bye to Ibn, the boy is on a white horse next to Herger waving good bye.

I always thought the boy and the archer were son and father, but can't recall anything from the movie that actually states it to be fact.

Good post ^

I have no idea where, but I remember reading that the scenes with the boy were partially dropped because he grew a lot during the curse of production and it was apparent in the end battle scenes that he was a lot older / bigger.

Agree!

I think they might flash his face for a second in that fireside "language learning" scene too. He confused me the couple times I noticed him. I couldn't figure why they had a kid traveling with them and didn't realize he was actually one of the thirteen.

I'm surprised that Nicko McBrain looking guy (John DeSantis) wasn't more visible in it. Looking at his page, the man appears to be a gargantua at 6'9". I guess with half the guys in it being giants nobody really stands out.

Just watching it now and i just noticed that the Nicko McBrain looking guy (i assume we are talking about the same guy, he has really long hair and an axe) has a small Vicky the Viking type helmet on. Then once we get to the scene where the warriors scope out the homestead with the headless corpses - the archers son / apprentice is now wearing the helmet.

I suspect there may be a lost subplot where the warriors take him under their wing and train him up.

Yeah that's him. I think he's the one center-screen, laughing during that thunderstorm that they show at the very beginning, and he's got the helmet on.
