How did they manage to transport the horses? boats werent overly large, trips were fairly long, had to have feed, clean ip messes, plis the supplies needed for the men???

Boats.Vikings tended to hug the coastlines on raids but this was not always so

You can see the horses on the boat, several times; even when they disembarked.
